Hay

In North Dakota, haying season is usually from the middle of June through mid August, of course depending on the weather and how much hay there is to cut and the availability of the person that bales for us.

We have about 500 acres in alfalfa that we make into hay which most years takes care of our own cattle.  We typically make it into the large round bales as we find it is easier to store and keeps better throughout the winter.  

We generally do not grow enough to sell but a few years ago when North Dakota had several prairie fires in the western part, we donated 28 bales of alfalfa to the North Dakota Stockmen Association to help out the other ranchers
